Women Empowerment

... emotional healing, as well as imparting teaching skills and helping women regain control of their lives. Volunteers spend their time caring for women and children, offering them companionship, skills learning, education and care. The teenagers have taken the first step seeking support for their aggression, however, now they need support to have a better life. That's where we want you to participate. The projects are very poorly staffed and lack sufficient funds. Volunteers will find that they can make a real difference in the lives of abused and vulnerable women with their children through their participation in this important program.

Many of them come from nearby communities seeking support and consolation for their problem and find in volunteers that love transcends borders!

+ How you can help?

  • Many of the teenagers still study and the volunteer will participate in the care of their children, this involves playing with them, feeding them and if possible cleaning them. The home is self-sustainable, they prepare food for consumption and sale. If you are a baker or confectioner you will be more than an aid in the preparation of these foods. Hmm it smells good!

  • You can do activities outside doing a prior coordination with the shelter, take a breath of air and walk with one of the teenagers and their child while enjoying a delicious ice cream, so you can get closer to them and share your views that help in their self-esteem and confidence, show them the reasons to enjoy life!

  • Depending on the schedule of the teenagers, you will help those who have an interest in English, mathematics, assist them during the workshops and give a hand around the shelter (cooking, cleaning, attending at the kiosk, doing laundry, etc.)

  • Those volunteers with an advanced level of Spanish and with experience in the field of psychology are very well received, they help the psychologist on duty with interviews, reviews of psychological profiles and everything necessary for the benefit of adolescents.
